How to leave a conversation in between, courteously? 


INFORMAL .

Simi:     I’m sorry but I need to leave now Ravi,

               I have an urgent meeting at 5.

               Let’s discuss the rest of the things tomorrow morning.

               Is that ok?

Ravi:     Sure, we can do that.


SEMI FORMAL .

Simi:      I’m sorry but I need to leave now Natasha,

                I have an urgent meeting at 5.

                But it was great talking to you,

                and I really hope we continue this discussion next time!

Natasha: Sure, why not!

Simi:      Thanks Natasha! Have a great day!

Natasha: You too!


FORMAL .

Simi:       Richard, this is a very interesting discussion, and I really wish we could continue,

                 but I have an urgent meeting at 5, which I can’t miss.

                 So, if you allow me, I’d like to take your leave now.

Richard:  Sure.

Simi:       Thank you so much. I hope we can continue this discussion the next time.

Richard:  Absolutely.
