Hair / Hairs


Instead of using the word – hairs,  the word – ‘HAIR’ – is used to indicate the following –

  • single strand of hair.
  • All the strands of hair on a person’s head –  and –
  • All the strands of hair forming the coat of animals.

EXAMPLES

Correct sentence – You have  very soft hair.

Incorrect sentence – You have  very soft hairs.


Correct sentence – I am colouring  my hair.

Incorrect sentence – I am colouring  my hairs.


Correct sentence – We should not shampoo  our hair  too much.

Incorrect sentence – We should not shampoo  our hairs  too much.


Correct sentenceMy dog’s hair  is golden and shiny.

Incorrect sentenceMy dog’s hairs  are golden and shiny.
